Search for Orca, Humpbacks, Dolphin and Porpoise Reports

I hope everyone had a great Canada Day! Today's weather improved greatly over yesterday's winds and the need for warmer clothing - where's Summer? Reports include elusive Orca sightings, Pacific White Sided Dolphins, Harbour Porpoises, a couple of Humpback Whales and some noteworthy Sea Lions.

9:45 am Report of around 6 Orca spotted off the Cape Mudge can buoy working their way Southward.
Hi Susan,
I am sure you heard (over the radio - SM) about my epic search zigzagging in Georgia Strait - Alas, no one found those Orca. Today was still a wonderful day with fantastic guests – so as for marine wildlife, 2 harbour porpoise in Bute Inlet, 2 Harbour Porpoise – Hole in the Wall, and a group of about 6-8 Lags (short for the latin name of Pacific White Sided Dolphins - SM) – they were traveling/foraging/playful dolphins mid passage at Eagles Cove.

July 1:
4: 10 pm 5 to 6 Harbour Porpoises grouped tightly together Southbound by Kanish Bay, just North-West of Campbell River..

July 1:
2:30 pm 3 Harbour Porpoises in Bute Inlet.

I spoke with Aaron, Campbell River Whale Watching, who told me about watching a couple of Steller Sea Lions porpoising and surfing in the waves by Cooper Point up one of the inlets. The Sea Lion played in the waves for a good half hour. Nice treat for the tour!
