Orca, Dolphins and More

The majority of the large group Transient Orca continued their way up Johnstone Strait and into Knight Inlet while a few of the usuals stayed down in our area. Pacific White Sided Dolphins have been scattered throughout the inlets and popping up in groups of 24 up to 200. The Northern Resident Orca were reported up in Queen Charlotte Strait. Another unusual to see, but not rare, species spotted today was a cougar lying on a rock on the shore just above Campbell River. A huge Elephant Seal was also spotted in the Arran Rapids “in shallow water, inhaling an 8-10 lb salmon whole.”
