WOW – Super Pod of Transient Bigg's
Killer Whales back in the Powell River Sunshine Coast area! First
only a few were seen, then their numbers kept increasing... They
headed down towards Jervis Inlet or maybe as far down as Sechelt, so
please remember to report your sightings. Some others even
popped up by Big Bay/Sonora Lodge area. Pacific White Sided Dolphins
and a couple of Harbour Porpoise complete today's report.
This is also a good time to remind
boaters of the Canadian whale watching guidelines. For details click
here or go to the Links Page on the main
Web site.

May 15:
10 am I kept an eye out in front of
Powell River and all the way up towards Lund, waiting for the Orca to
show up. Then I spotted some animals, but couldn't tell for sure if
they were Orca heading North-West towards Vivian Island. They must
have come up by Texada.

May 15:
11:13 am 7 to 8 Orca on the South-West
side of Savary Island chowing down.
11:18 am There's another group so more
Orca – haven't seen that many together around here before.
11:54 am One group had 9 Orca, another
had 4 Orca, another had 5 Orca and another had two or three and there
may have been more.
Dee Ingraham, Savary Island
