Long, catch-up sightings report! Orca,
Orca Everywhere the other day, today was one of those “and poof
they're gone” days. Until late in the day, there were tour boats
enjoying the beautiful weather, and very few Cetacean sightings.

July 7:
4:40 or so, Coming across on the Comox
ferry to Powell River we saw 4 or 5 Orca off the top of
Texada Island. Watching them, they popped up well off the other
side of the ferry and closer to Harwood Island. There was 1
big male dorsal – extremely pointy looking travelling with a calf
and possibly 3 other Orca. They all headed North.
About 5:30 pm 25 to 40 PWS Dolphins
transited Southbound quickly off Armour Road, Myrtle Rocks area of
Powell River.
While Nina was calling in this
report, she was surprised to look out her window to see another group
of Orca! Probably following/chasing the Dolphins. - SM
6:10 pm Another group of Orca
suddenly popped up moving quickly South off Myrtle Rocks,
Powell River. There were definitely 5 females and a couple of others.
(while still on the phone – SM) Oh look, a Breach....Another
breach!! Lots of splashing about. (She went to watch - SM)
