Of Course! The Bigg's (Transient) Orca
had to contradict what had just become the norm. They showed
themselves two days in a row, then disappeared. Some Dall's porpoise
were mistaken for Orca, an easy mistake for people unfamiliar with
the miniature 'black and whites'. Humpback Whale and Pacific White
Sided Dolphins complete the sightings. The Orca are due again
tomorrow, so keep your eyes open.....

Dall's
Porpoise
June 23:
11:30 am Report of 3 Orca by Kanish
Bay in Discovery Passage– They turned out to be Dall's
Porpoise. Aaron, Campbell River Whale Watching confirmed Dall's
Porpoise. (These small cetaceans have the same colouring as killer
whales and to the unfamiliar, are easy to confuse with Orca – SM)
Mike, Oak Bay Titan – he's the new
guy so we'll forgive him this time :)
